17 Weeks

17 weeks and counting.  I got to hear the heartbeat this week!  Yeah!  It took her a whopping 28 seconds to find him and I swear I almost died from the suspense.  155 bpm.  The nurse asked me, "Do you pee alot?"  I'm like, "Uh?  Personal question?  But Yes, how'd you know?"
"The baby is sitting right on top of your blatter"  Me:  "Go figure."
All the books say he's supposed to have moved up towards my ribs to give Mom a break.  I guess my kid didn't read the same books I'm reading.  I can see this one's going to be stubborn right from the get go.

Traditionally you confirm the sex of the baby at your 20 week appointment, but because I have the coolest Dr. in the world she said I can come back in 2 weeks to confirm!  SWEET!  She then told me that she was told at her 12 week ultra sound that her baby was looking like it'd be a boy, only to find out at her 20 week, that her baby was in fact a girl.  I've already spent the last 5 weeks convincing myself that a boy is the greatest thing ever and I'm totally ment to have a boy.  In fact I think I over sold myself because I think I might be a little sad at this point if I'm told it is a girl.  I guess the good news is, at one time or another I've been convinced on both sexes.  So either way it's a win/win and let's face it, this kid will be loved.  It's just a matter of whether the nursery will be purple or tan.  (Pink and Blue is so yesterday)

Always Want What You Can't Have

With this post being titled "Always Want What You Can't Have," I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say this perfect picture speaks exactly what's on my mind.   But more importantly why is it we go through life always wanting something we can't have?

Like for instance when I was 3ft 10 inches I was too small to go on Space Mountain at Disney Land.

Everyone would say next year you'll be able to go, just have to wait one more year....Then that year would finally come and I'd kick and scream because holy crap my opportunity has finally arrived and now I'm scared sh#tless and so not interested in being 4ft.

Then you go and it's like, okay now that I've accomplished Space Mountain, what else you got?  So then you can't wait to go to Six Flags.  It's like the roller coaster of life, pun intended, never stops.  Now you've hit 16, you can drive, then you can't wait for 21.  Party hardy!!  Then college, then job, then get your own place, meet your soul mate, get married and then your blessed with the 2 pink lines you've been waiting for!  Whoohoo!  You'd think the thing I'd want the most now is the actual baby right?  Nope!

.......
I'm counting down the days till I can officially walk into BabiesRus with a purpose!  I can't wait to go shopping!  Let's pimp this kids room out already!  So with 4 weeks and counting till I get the official, your baby is a (insert boy/girl here). I'm going bazurk!  This is seriously worse then watching all the tall kids go on Space Mountain.

Roller Coaster Continues to Dec 2nd, kid's finally here, Happy Happy Joy Joy!
 Now guess what I want....

...and so the roller coaster of life continues.

16 Weeks and Counting...

16 Weeks

My first purchase in a maternity store!  What a trip that was!  Mom and I made sure to eat at Cheesecake Factory prior to shopping so I was extra big.  I finally have some clothes I can wear to work aside from dresses all the time.  Don't worry I'll wear a new one to show off each week.  Lucky you right?

Apparently the little booger is the size of an avocado.  No kicking yet or movement but I'm sure that will change soon enough.  Apparently he can now hear inside my belly so we'll all have to watch our language from here on out.  Basically this means that singing in the shower, in the car, and while doing virtually anything will be in full effect.  Hopefully he likes my voice better than my husband.  Otherwise I'm sure I'll get kicked sooner rather than later (which I'm hoping for!)

Today my co-worker said, "Wow you're really pregnant!"  I was like, uh yeah, you've known about this for 4 weeks.  He followed it with, "No, I mean you can actually see that you're visibly pregnant."  I'm like, dude, you're not helping.  The dress I was wearing was more on the fitted side so that must've given it away.  Again, still not helping...

My how things have changed!

Once upon a time we had a clear view almost to the 202
(which is 2 miles away but you get the point)

4.5 years later, here is our view today!

We now have two homes behind us.  Since I'm such a great sales person I was able to sell a single story directly behind us.  Thank the good Lord!  The 2 story you see under construction really isn't behind our lot, but it is in our view.  So I guess if I was a better sales person we would be seeing another single story.  Oh well...

Given the rate new homes have been selling here at Layton Lakes we were bound to have neighbors eventually.   Speaking of our new neighbors, they close on Tuesday.  Apparently they have a German Shepherd as well.  And get this, she's on anxiety medication and jumps fences when she's off her meds.  Awesome!  I figure worst case scenario Crockett will get a new girlfriend out of it.  Between Roxi hanging on fences and barking at the neighbors and the new dog jumping the fence it should be a good time at the McConkey house!

We were told this week that we'll be moving ground across Queen Creek Rd. in the next 90 days.  Which means I will have more homes to sell in about a year.  In theory timing will be perfect as we'll be in close out at that time and can begin selling the new stuff with no break.  We love a smooth transition in this business!

Can cell phones get service in a fridge?

It's official "Pregnancy Brain" does in fact exist.  I left work on Sunday night looking forward to my 2 days off.  Didn't think much of it at the time but my work phone wasn't normally where I put it when I get home.  Oh well, I'll look for it tomorrow.  The next day however is Monday, and in the "work" world Monday is a let's get things done day.  So me not having my phone on a real Monday even though it's my Saturday is unacceptable.  You just never know what your missing between corporate and your customers.

So around noon I swing by the office to check and see if I left it in my desk drawer.  Nope.  Hmmm.....  2 pm rolls around and still no phone.  Then all of a sudden I hear this faint ringing, but where is it coming from?  "Crockett!  Go find Mommy's phone!"  Um, yeh that didn't help.  I go up stairs, I go down stairs, check the laundry room, check the pantry....wait a minute?  The fridge?  No way...Yes way!  There it was sitting on the shelf with the rest of my goodies from the office that day.

Pregnancy Brain in full effect!

The Blog Is Back!

I'm back!  A big thanks to my very loyal Aunt JoAn for pointing out that she still checks my blog every Tuesday.  I'm pretty sure you're the only one who reads it and I can't even express how grateful I am for you!

Even my own Husband hasn't seen or read my blog.  It's not like he doesn't know about it, I've sent him the email a thousand times with the link.  With that being said, New Title!  Justin and Kristi is OUT, "That's so K-Rae"  is in!  And why shouldn't it be?  I mean, it's a blog about me anyway.  Plus it's not like he'll even know.

Where did K-Rae come from?  I go by Kristi Rae at work and somewhere down the line I was given the name of K-Rae.  Apparently Kristi Rae was too long to say.  After kicking around some Ideas at work (yes we work hard here in my office) my co-worker said, I have the perfect name!  And so, That's so K-Rae begins!

I vow to keep this blog updated on a regular basis.  Even if Aunt JoAn is the only one who reads it!   At least she'll have something new to look at on a weekly basis.  Speaking of NEW things to read I've already posted 3 new posts.  Posts I'm super excited to share with you!  Scroll down to see and I can't wait to tell you all what's new and exciting in my fabulous little world!   :)

15 Weeks

15 Weeks and Counting!
Is it totally ridiculous that I actually put additional thought into what I was going to wear this morning?

15 Weeks

I just had a big breakfast and a 20oz iced decaf latte so cut me a little slack.  I'm now on the 100% dress routine.  No more work pants for this gal!  They're in the guest closet.  I think it's about time to begin shopping for some bigger clothes and possibly some new shoes.  Heels are going to have to be a thing of the past.  Although I'm in them today and will probably continue to keep wearing them, I do keep a pair of flip flops under my desk just in case.  I complain more when I'm wearing them so out of respect for my co-workers and family I think it'd best to be closer to the ground.

After much scrutiny from my Mother and an Okay from my Dr. I began a new exercise routine.  It was either work out or listen to my Mother say "I worked out the entire time I was pregnant with you" one more time.  So against my will I'm now Queen of the 3.5mph treadmill.  The Doc said not to let my heart rate go above 140 bpm, so I'm thinking no sweat that's what I'm used too.  Uh...Wrong!  I'm so out of shape!    3.5 mph kicked my a$$!    Out of breath and totally pathetic!  I can't believe how out of shape I am.  I know I should cut my body some slack, it is after all growing a human.  But seriously?  3.5 mph?!?  I used to do 4.0 with a 2% incline and not break a sweat.  It's true your resting hear rate goes way up when you're lazy for 6 months.

Let the Transformation Begin

So my co-worker, Jessica, has been on me about taking a weekly photo to caputre the beautiful  transformation of my growing bump.  My agrument: Why would I want to document me getting fat?  It's not like I'm going to post it on facebook.  I don't want anyone seeing this!  It's bad enough I have to wake up every morning only to realize my pants, yet again, don't fit.

Here we are at 14 weeks.

After much debate, well, really no debate at all, as I was kinda curious to see it myself.  I said okay let's do this.  So every Sunday morning at work she's been gracious enough to be my photographer in the new documentery, Watch Kristi Grow.  As you can see we've chosen the Oasis that is known as the backyard of the Picacho Model.  Maybe next week we'll take a picture by the minature over priced splash pad in the back of our San Clemente model.

We're having a Baby!

It doesn't look like much but according to the Dr. there's a baby in there!  7 weeks along and already measuring a week ahead.  Either this is going to be a big kid or we're just off by a week.

The infamous 12 week appointment!  The day all your worries and first trimester symptoms are supposed to go away.  Wrong!  What they really meant was week 13-14 is the good stuff.  Talk about false hopes.  I woke up that morning so excited for the mood swings, exhaustion and nauseousness to be gone.  I assumed it would occur while I was sleeping and I'd wake up feeling refreshed and with more energy then ever before.  Nope!  Still got it!  Maybe next week :(.

With a new outfit on, Justin and I went to the Lady Doc's Office for our big 12 week appointment.  I mean I seriously looked way cute!

At this point I'm praying we'll see something, anything at all.  After seeing what I'd say was just a blob last time I have high hopes.  Nerves galore, she puts that wet stuff on my stomach and takes her all magical seeing ultra sound device, places it on my stomach and there "he" was!  Literally sucking his thumb and chompin' away.  It was so cool.  The tech was attempting to take the measurement of the width of the spine when he kicked off the wall and slid back and forth as if he was on a swing!  I was laughing so hard it was making the picture bounce.  The poor girl couldn't get the measurements to save her life.  I was okay with it because I got to watch him be for a little while longer.

The word "he" has been thrown around a bit and the reason is because I asked the ultra sound guru if she could just take a guess as to whether or not it was looking like a boy or a girl.  It literally took her less than 2 seconds to say those magical words.  "It looks like you're going to have a boy!.....But don't buy anything yet"  She even took a picture of his dinky!  Poor kids already got his privates on display for the whole world to see and he can't do anything about it!

My first reaction was "Yeah!  So far so good and healthy!  Wait, a boy?"  What am I going to do with a boy?  I don't know the first thing about boys and their clothes are never as cute as the girls.  Plus I had 15 names on my list for a baby girl and a big fat ZERO in the boys column.  Now what?

Technically I won't have confirmation for another 8 weeks at this point.  So I guess I can hang tight and not purchase anything until we're more sure.  I'm still measuring a week bigger than what the calendar says so we're just going to bump everything up by a week.  That's right, I'm taking charge of this kids future birthday.  Move over December 9th!  December 2nd is where it's at!

(This by the way has nothing to do with the fact that Miss Britney Spears has the exact same birthday...I swear!...  Fingers crossed!!)
