Our Dining Room

We have a dining room table! So very exciting! The china hutch will be delivered at the begining of August. And the chairs....Well....That's a whole nother story. We're still trying to agree on what we'll be sitting on for the rest of our lives! But I'll keep you posted!

13 Weeks Old!

Crockett's 13 weeks old and a whopping 33lbs! He's gained 8lbs in two weeks! Oh Lordy....
His left ear had a short run at being up in the world. Looks like his right ear will be his main beacon. He's currently learning how to go up and down the stairs. It's pretty freakin' funny to watch him. Getting upstairs is pretty simple it's the going down that's hilarious! He likes to use both front feet at the same time, almost like he's pouncing on the next step. He just lets his back legs follow suit. We're getting there...

Crockett's 11 week vet visit

Crockett's 11 weeks old and 25lbs! Both of his ears are up too!

The Planning Crew for Mom's 60th Birthday

Laura, Lindsey, Karen, Rob and myself all met at Ztejas one night to plan Mom's ultimate surprise party! This is where all the magic happened! We figured out invite lists, decorations, dates, times, and stories to tell. It's amazing what can arise after a few margaritas and some guacamole! Of course knowing Mom frequently stops in for dinner or happy hour at Ztejas we were a little nervous she'd see us. But all turned out great as she had no idea her surprise party was in the works.

Meet Crockett!

Meet the newest member of the McConkey family, Crockett! Our first "child" together. Crockett, named after the infamous Sonny Crockett on Miami Vice is a 7 week year old German Shepherd. Born on March 23rd, his Mother is black, tan, brown, and grey, and his Father is 100% white.
Crockett at his first vet appointment.
He did so well and weighs 14.8 lbs.
The Dr. kept saying, "Oh he's going to be a big boy!"

First visit to Petsmart!

We moved our lives temporarily down stairs for the moment. We blew up the air mattress and put it in the family room. As you know with a puppy, or any kind of baby for that matter. They tend to wake up, poo, pee, eat, sleep at all hours of the day and night. It just seemed easier to park it down stairs for the time being. We're crate training Crockett and it seems to be going okay. He's not a fan of being locked up and cries for about 6 minutes after we close the gate. But then he lays down and naps.

Justin surprised me at work on Sunday with baby Crockett! A co-worker of his knew he's always wanted a German Shepherd and let him know she was expecting a litter in the very near future. Low and behold the litter came! Seven weeks later we now have our little handsome man!
Roxi is being a trooper. She's still super possessive and definitely not interested in entertaining such an energetic puppy but she's handling it okay. We've had a few growls and minor fights initiated by my little orange dog, but it doesn't seem to phase Crockett. If anything he responds with a "bring it on Bitch" type attitude and talks back! It's actually really funny! Roxi'll have to learn sooner rather than later because this puppy will surpass her in size really fast!

Vegas Trip 2010

The Brixey's and the McConkeys decided on Monday to fly out on Saturday for an impromptu Vegas trip. Our trip was inspired by Bill's birthday and the pure thought of....Why the hell not? We had so much fun!

The first night was crazy! It all started with our plane getting ready to take off. We began the usual taxi, watched the flight attendant do their shpeel on what to do if we have a water landing (to Vegas I think not). Then as we begin gaining speed, you know, where your head pushes into the back of the seat due to the force? And then BAM out of no where the pilot slams on the breaks! I flew forward and hit the seat in front of me that's how hard the breaks were hit! We finally decreased speed when the pilot comes on the intercom and said apparently the control tower saw a piece of shrapnel fall of our plane so we thought we'd head back to the gate and have a look. Ya think?!?

Mean while we're still sitting there anxiously awaiting for our 50 minute flight to begin. When they say, well we might be able to fix it, so hang tight we'll see what we can do. Only for them to come back on 3 minutes later and say, nope, can't fix it everyone off we're putting you on another plane. (Awe man!)

Normally you'd think this would take a ridiculous amount of time with debarking, getting luggage transferred and re-boarding another plane. But Southwest totally kicked butt and had everyone on board with luggage, and kicked in reverse in less than 30! It was great! So we were on our way.

We started off at Dick's Last Resort at the Excalibur with shots of tequila and some dinner to get us started. Then headed to the Roulette tables at New York, New York! Now Bill and Nicole aren't gamblers. But then we introduced them to the fabulous game of Roulette! We had a Super fun time and gosh darnett the waitress kept bringing us drinks! I slipped away for about 10 minutes to try my luck at, Grandma's favorite, Wheel of Fortune and won $200! Around 2am or was it 3am someone had the brilliant Idea to go dancing at Studio 54 back at our hotel MGM. So we did and drank and danced till 4am!

The next day we were all moving a little slower. Justin and I went and saw the new hotel, Aria. Then sat and watched Phil Mickelson win the Masters while enjoying daiquiris and mojitos. That night we all went to The Venetian to have dinner at Emeril Lagasi's steak house, Delmonico. YUM-O! I didn't want to leave! Amazing food! Then we saw the show, The Blue Man Group.

These pictures are mainly from the 2nd night as I forgot my camera the 1st night. But we certainly had a great time and won't ever forget it! (Well maybe between the hours of 1:45-3am, that's kind of a blur) :)

In our seats waiting for Blue Man to begin.

At Delmonico waiting for our table.

The Martini Party

Our much anticipated pictures from our Martini party in January have arrived! I finally found my camera! Go figure it was with the camera I had lost previous to losing this one. So now we have 2 perfectly good working cameras.
Justin and I hosted our first Martini Party in January. We had a few different drinks to try. Of course the Kristi-ini was in the mix as well as a few others. Ken went a little crazy with his mad bar tending skills and had the girls trying different drinks all night. It was great!
We have some great memories and some very interesting stories arose from this party. Good times with great friends! What more could we ask for?
Here are some of the pictures... Jeremy at the end of the night - just resting his eyes....
Justin and Layne being goofy.
McKenna and Lindsey trying one of Ken's concoctions.

Easter at Mom's

Mom hosted Easter at her house this year and served a super yummy lunch/dinner. I, like my husband, had to work. So Mom had it early. I took a couple of video's of Aunt JoAn and Mom opening up their Easter baskets from Grandma. As well as video of the dogs. What's an Easter without the pups?

We missed Sedona Rae, Sarah, Josh, Aunt Julie and Uncle Mike this year. We were thinking about you though :). We wish everyone a happy holiday weekend!

Oh and Aunt JoAn asked, "Who buys a home on Easter?" Believe it or not my collegue Jeremy Smith is writing a contract as I type. He's now 7 for 7 on sales written on Easter! One sale every Easter for the past 7 years! Great job JS! Of course he's the reason we all have to work on holidays. Putting hope in home builders heads that people are crazy enough to make huge purchases on Easter Sunday! Thanks for that.... Ugh....

Sarah's Wedding Week

Sarah and Mark were married on March 13, 2010! Congratulations to the happy couple! We had a blast at their wedding. The girls came out to "Hollar Back Girl" and showed off our dancing skills. The boys came out wearing sun glasses and busted a move to "Men in black." We had a great time!

The week prior we had the bachelorette party. All of us girls began our day at 11am at the FBR Open. We watched a few of the golfers T-off but mainly stayed in the Tilted Kilt tent drinking and playing our bachelorette games. We then went to the Birds Nest which was super crowded. Around 8:30 we all literally piled into a car and the trunk and headed to Salty's in Old Town.
Let the shots begin! Lindsey and I downed 4 Patron shots and couple beer chasers. We even got Sarah to break her "no shot" rule and have a couple! All in all it was a wild and crazy day!

Sedona Trip

Justin and I went up to Sedona on Monday and had an AMAZING time! I'm sure I've been there before but I just couldn't get over how breathtakingly beautiful it was. There was still snow on the ground in a few places in town and near our hotel cottage (which is just enough for me).

We stayed at L'auberge and boy was it cool! It's not your typical hotel. Instead of a room they have cottages complete with your own outdoor shower! Yep outdoor shower! I personally was not brave enough to try it out but Justin was! Lucky for all of you I forgot to charge our camera's battery so you won't be seeing any live shots! But here's one from the website and it looked exactly like this.
(I know you're thinking it so I mine as well clear the air now...yes there was an indoor shower, yes, I bathed this trip)
The room had it's own fireplace which was way cool! And it functioned on a remote to boot!
We walked around town and searched for a bottle of wine and munchies for later on that evening, but as it turns out, everything's closed on Monday's! So we settled for wine and cheese in the lobby. Justin found a backgammon table next to one of the many wood fireplaces. So we sipped our wine, ate our cheese, and I kicked his but 2 times in a row in backgammon! My kind of happy hour if you ask me :).

The only 2 pic's of us taken with our fabulous camera phones. I can't believe I forgot to charge the camera!

Poor Roxi

Our poor Roxeroo! While we were in Sedona Roxi stayed at Mom's house. When she came back she was walking funny. Sure enough she'd been chewing on the pads of her feet. She literally ate the skin off a few of the pads. I wasn't sure what to do so we tried a new remedy. I gave her a half Benadryl, put some Neosporn type creme on her feet then wrapped her up with duct tape in my socks! She looks so sad in these pictures but I just had to take them! She was so stinkin' cute when she walked. It was hilarious!
We'll see how she's doin' in the next couple of days and take her to the vet if it gets any worse. I really hope it was just a nervous reaction to her Mom and Dad leaving.
Poor Poor Roxeroo!

Sheri's Birthday

The Girls all in town and at our first Sunday breakfast of 2010!
Saturday night Lindsey, Sarah and I took Sheri out for her 29th birthday! We had a great time at Zocalo but goodness those portions were huge! Between dinner and the margarita's there wasn't much room for dessert, but we found room anyway! We had a super yummy Tiramasu and Chocolate Souffle at the Italian restaurant down the street. Of course the Souffle came with a candle so a certain song had to be sung! Even when you turn 29 you still have "Happy Birthday" sung to you by all of your friends. We love you Sheri!

New License

After spending a ridiculous amount of time at the Social Security office it's finally happened. I'm a McConkey! Who'd of thunk! Now I get to spend Lord knows how much time changing my name on everything else.

If the tradition was reversed and men would never change their names, Ever. I mean let's face it. Women are much more proactive in getting things handled. Men on the other hand....???

New Year's Eve

OMG! What a crazy super fun New Years! Justin and I joined Bill, Nicole, Luis, Megan, Kenny and Kim for quite an adventurous night! It all began with meeting everyone at Nicole's house only to find Bill in a Red Suit with a very Red Hat! Yes, he went out like that. He took the liberty of getting us 4 girls giant rings that light up, you know, just in case they couldn't find us. The boys had clappers to go around their necks as well as purple, gold, and black sparkly hats to wear as well.

All 8 of us piled into Luis's "seats 6 comfortably" Yukon. And don't worry Bill remembered to bring the blow horn as we drove to the restaurant. He proceeded to let everyone around us know his blow horn was definitely working and it was definitely LOUD! We all made it there after some interesting directions from Justin. Had Nicole and I not stepped in we would've seen Tim-buck-two before we saw the Keg restaurant. Needless to say we made it there safe and sound.

The bar and restaurant were packed. Apparently a table for 8 on New Year's isn't easy to come by. We proceeded to sit in the bar for 2 hours waiting for our table. We definitely kept busy though. The Keg managers loved us so much they bought us a round of shots as well as appetizers. Then when we finally sat down our favorite friends Jessica, Eric & their family were sitting right next to us!

Dinner was fabulous and extra goofy. Some where in there more rounds of shots were ordered as well as many more drinks. I haven't laughed that much consecutively since McKenna and I saw Jeff Dunham & Achmed preform! We had an amazing time and are so grateful for our wonderful friends! Thank you so much for dinner and drinks Luis and Bill!

We left the restaurant and returned to Bill and Nicole's to 4 bottles of "The Veuve" Champagne. As Luis says, one bottle per couple! If you can believe, and I'm sure you can.... We actually missed the ball drop by a few minutes but made our own count down. Then I lost my engagement ring. As Justin was frantically looking everywhere I realized I just had it on my other finger. Whoops!

It was a very special night and I promise to never forget it, however 4 tequila shots doesn't help the memory all too well. Talk about ringing in the New Year with a BANG! Bring it on 2010 I'm ready for a GREAT year!
